Education
At Roze Filmdagen, we don’t just bring queer films to the big screen. We also use film as an accessible and meaningful way to introduce young people to themes surrounding sexual identity and gender diversity.
Through our educational programmes for secondary education and vocational education, we invite pupils and students to look at themselves, each other and the world around them with an open and critical perspective. Film serves as a starting point for connection, conversation and new perspectives.
Save the Date 2027
The Roze Filmdagen education programme will take place from 8 to 19 March 2026.
The preparatory lesson will be scheduled in consultation with the school prior to the festival.

Education Programme for Secondary and Vocational Education
Our education programme consists of three complementary components:
The program consists of three complementary parts:
Preparatory Lesson
A guest teacher from Roze Filmdagen visits the classroom for an interactive lesson in preparation for the festival visit. Pupils and students are introduced to the films and explore themes of identity and representation.
Festival Visit
Next, you’ll visit the film festival! At Het Ketelhuis or Theater De Krakeling, we will watch a programme of three short films together. Two films are selected by Roze Filmdagen, while the third is chosen by the pupils and students themselves during the preparatory lesson.
Post-Screening Discussion
After the films, we come together at the venue to discuss what the pupils and students have seen, felt and experienced. For this part of the programme, we collaborate with COC Amsterdam. Experienced guest speakers create an open and safe environment with room for questions, different perspectives and personal stories. The films serve as a starting point for a broader conversation about identity, representation and what it means to be able to be yourself.
Education Programme for GSAs
Especially for GSAs, we offer a programme with tailored educational materials. Pupils are given the space to explore queer themes and identity in greater depth within a familiar and supportive environment.
The programme encourages dialogue about representation and aims to strengthen a sense of recognition and belonging.
Tailor-Made Education
No two schools or groups are the same. That is why Roze Filmdagen also develops tailor-made educational programmes adapted to the needs, target audience and learning objectives of your group.

Education Outside School
Film can also spark meaningful conversations outside the classroom. Would you like to visit Roze Filmdagen with your association, sports club or another youth group? You can make use of our special educational rate.
